Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) FAQ

Q. What is DIA?

A. Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) is a type of connection to the Internet. Essentially, your computer system is connected through a CSU/DSU to a router that sends information over a DS1, DS3, or OC3 optical circuit to an Internet protocol (IP) network. Once routed over the IP backbone, the data is driven by the distant-end IP address to the appropriate site. Click here for DIA rates.

Q. What is currently included in the DIA contract service level agreement (SLA)?

A. Among the best in the industry, it includes:

  • Network Availability: A goal of 100 percent network availability for all components.

  • Average Roundtrip Network Delay: 65 millisecond round trip node-to-node average delay over every trunk in the network

  • Customer Notification of Outages: Within 10 minutes of detected outage, a message will inform the customer that services are unavailable (i.e., router is unable to transmit and/or receive data)

  • Normal Maintenance Upgrades (hardware, software, and/or capacity): Two day notification to affected customers

Q. What are the main advantages of the TeleDeal DIA?

A. It's a state-of-the-art Internet product that allows customers to transfer information over an OC-192 multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) infrastructure. The zero packet loss design goal also means that information will be transported accurately and efficiently.

Q. What port speeds are available through the TeleDeal DIA offering?

A. These port speeds are offered through TeleDeal DIA:

  • DS1

  • DS3

  • OC3

Q. What are the available billing types?

A. With our DIA, you may choose from flat rate, burstable, tiered and data transfer for your billing type.
